This month in one of our lessons we watched a Nooma video featuring Rob Bell. In the Nooma video it talked about forgiveness. I don't know about you guys but I know for myself, forgiving someone can be easier said than done at times, right? Its easy to say I forgive you but much harder to put those words into practice. Although we may have the best intentions of forgiving someone it takes more than just words. Something that Rob Bell said in the video really stuck out to me. Rob said when you tell someone you forgive them you have to "wish them well". Its not enough to just say I forgive you because in our hearts we may just be waiting for something bad to come of the person who wronged us. By wishing them well we have a heart turn and instead of waiting for bad to come of them, we're hoping for good to come their way.
As with anything in our lives, to become good at something we have to practice it. Is there someone in your life that you've outwardly forgiven but inside are waiting for something bad to come of them, or maybe in your heart your still holding bitterness and resentment? Lets make a choice today to wish well those who we forgive, praying that God will bless and guide their lives. When we put this type of love into practice we are truely beginning to love others as Christ loves us.
